Setting up a picture

Every artwork added to Preview has a slot. Every slot has a number referenced in the box next to Slot Set Up. Cycle through slots to select the one you wish to work with or select it by double-clicking on the image.

How to place an artwork on the wall:

  • Add a Picture Slot by clicking on the plus icon in Slot Set Up (delete slots by clicking on the bin icon underneath).

  • Select the relevant image type from the menu. Locate the file using the file browser, click to open and the image will automatically appear on the wall.

Please note that files or folders named using special characters including: !”$%><&*=+|{}@# will not open in Preview.

Setting up your artwork:

  • To set the Dimensions of the picture, type in the height of the artwork. Preview will automatically determine the width based on the aspect ratio.

  • To adjust the Position on the wall use either Vertical or Horizonal sliders to move the image. For more leeway click Apply Offset. To relocate the art work completely click on the Re-Position button and use the cursor. ‘Lock’ keeps the slot at a fixed height. Untick it for vertical freedom!

  • Lighting - Adjust the Lighting sliders to create different lighting effects. Turn on a spotlight or a rect light for added lighting. Adjust the colour temperature of the spotlight by clicking on the white box next to the drop down menu.

  • Miscellaneous - This tab contains extra options to help make your set up as realistic as possible. Change the canvas edge colour or give your image added depth by uploading or automatically generating a Normal Map

  • Add frame or apply a Depth Map

  • Picture settings like these can be saved as metadata and reloaded automatically using a Ppic file to save time in future set ups.
