Add a Picture Slot by clicking on the plus icon in Slot Set Up position it on the wall with the cursor and a left click. You can delete slots by clicking on the bin icon ).

Select the relevant image type from the menu. Locate the file using the file browser, click to open and the image will automatically appear on the wall.

Please note that files or folders named using special characters including: !”$%><&*=+|{}@# will not open in Preview.

TOP TIP

Once you have adjusted your artwork (Dimensions, Frame, Lighting, etc.), click on the Metadata button in the bottom left menu. Title picture metadata with the same title as your artwork photograph and place it in the same folder. Whenever you need to use this particular artwork in another project, simply add Picture Slot and click on the Load Metadata tab. By loading picture metadata (.ppic) you will retrieve the original artwork photograph along with all previous adjustments.

Setting Up a Picture

Setting up your artwork:

  • To set the Dimensions of the picture, type in the height of the artwork. Preview will automatically determine the width based on the aspect ratio.

  • To adjust the Position on the wall use either Vertical or Horizonal sliders to move the image. For more leeway click Apply Offset. To relocate the art work completely click on the Re-Position button and use the cursor. ‘Lock’ keeps the slot at a fixed height. Untick it for vertical freedom!

  • Adjust the Lighting sliders to create different lighting effects. Turn on a spotlight or a rect light for targeted lighting. Adjust the colour temperature of the spotlight by clicking on the white box next to the drop down menu.

  • The Miscellaneous tab contains extra features to help make your set up look photorealistic. Change the canvas edge colour or give your image added depth by uploading or automatically generating a Normal Map.

  • Add frame or apply a Depth Map.

  • Picture settings like these can be saved as Metadata and reloaded automatically using a .ppic file to save time in future set ups.
