Artwork Types
Artworks are referenced in Preview by Slots.
There are two different types - Picture Slots and Model Slots. Add a slot by clicking the plus button in the upper left corner, then move the slot to the desired location and position it with a left click.
Picture slots support several different Image Types:
Select Simple Picture for regularly shaped artworks (square or rectangular). You will need a photograph of an artwork, cropped to size. Preview supports .png, .jpg and.tiff files.
Select Cut out for irregularly shaped artworks (triangular, circular, etc). You will need a photograph of an artwork with the background replaced with transparency in a .png format.
Select Video for displaying video content in the gallery. You will need a video file. Preview supports .mp4 format.
Select ‘Decal’ to place an image on the wall as a sticker. Preview supports .png, .jpg and .tiff files.
Select ‘Wall text’ to place text on the wall with a sticker-like effect. Upload any font by clicking on the Load Font button in the bottom left corner.

3D Models:
Preview supports 3D Models in either .fbx or .obj formats.
N.B Preview does not support animated models.
If you don’t have a 3D Model file, Billboards are a quick accessible way of displaying sculptures with a .png image with a transparent background.
Please note that Billboards look great from the right angle, however, they are a 2D hack with limitations (no depth, shadows or dynamic lighting).

Best Practice:
It is important to use well shot, well lit, high quality, high resolution images of artworks. However very large images will slow the application down or even crash it. We recommend keeping your image files at around 4k resolution. Equally, models with large numbers of polys may slow the software down. The upper threshold for a model’s poly count will vary depending on the specifications of your machine. In general, one million polys is a reasonable benchmark.
